BALDUR · SERIES

Baldur is my first design series – created in collaboration with F&H for their brand NUANCE. The brand has since merged with one of their other brands ZONE. The collection began with the idea of light. In Nordic mythology, Baldur is the god of light, and it felt only natural to name the series after him.

What started with a candleholder evolved into a complete series of bowls, candleholders, and hurricanes, crafted in brass, marble, and fine woods such as walnut, oak, and maple. Each material was chosen for its ability to reflect or absorb light, creating subtle contrasts between warm metal, cool stone, and soft wood.

The candleholders can be turned upside down, so one side holds a slender candle, and the other a tealight or block candle. That small rotation changes the mood entirely — from sharp and elegant to soft and grounded. The idea of transformation through balance became central to the design.

Baldur reflects my approach to design: rooted in Nordic tradition, defined by clarity and tactility, and open to new interpretations. The collaboration with F&H and Nuance allowed the series to merge industrial precision with handcrafted detail, resulting in objects that feel both modern and timeless.
